Earthquake near Santiago, Chile

Chile

This is one of the rooms in a centuries-old house that was upgraded in the late 1980's to earthquake standards, and looked like this after the earthquake on Saturday morning. My friend described waking to the quake and helping lead his 80 year old parents and their dogs to safety outdoors. He moved swiftly and kept his senses during the 90 seconds of what he described as "being in a food mixer."
We even saw some of the aftermath of the quake here in southeast Louisiana as our lake rose one foot and the water became very muddy.

He sure is a lucky fellow! Looks like his preparations paid off! Thanks for sharing the story Coleen, you can't get this kind of story from the TV news!

damage doesn't look that bad considering it went on for 90secs!
