The visual challenges in making this Coot portrait were to reveal nuanced detail in the black body feathers, while at the same time holding the subtle gradations in the white area of the beak, IMO a credit to capabilities of the 1DMk1V. The level and quality of detail nat 1600 iso IMO is also worth noting. the image was shot from a tripod, in low light, in raw, with the 2x tele-converter attached to the Canon 500-mm f/4 IS lens.
