Sloooooow Transport

Cheltenham, Glos

The wet weather today (the remnants of Hurricane Bill) has brought all sorts of slugs and things glooping out of the bushes and debris...spotted this chap (a European Black Slug, if you don't mind!) beating a hasty retreat across the path as I came home tonight, and I thought: 'there's a perfect example of natural transport'

This is almost 'as is' - a bit of a Curve and a modest dollop of Smart Sharpening and that's him in all his sluggy glory :o)

I don't particularly like slugs. They cause havoc in the garden; however, this guy is quite good looking. Our slugs are rather non-descript, sort of a grayish brown. Great shot of this fella! V.

Great macro, but I can´t see them anymore. Too many of them around here this summer, hungry for everything in the garden.

Doug
I'm glad these are small and not the size of cows (would make a neat movie), but then they wouldn't need a great macro shot to show them off. Really a nice one! best regards
Barri

Hey! he's not transporting anything! ... where his house? I think he's lazy, and just left his house at home. ;)
Cindi Smith27-Aug-2009 01:19
Yeah, they are slow and can do some damage....I like to sprinkle salt on them....they don't like that at all! Great shot of him, though! Excellent work!

LOL...you could have stopped for a cup of coffee & still got the shot...one thing you will never capture with these guys is motion blur :))

Top job with the panning, not a hint of motion-blur on your subject :o)

Slightly quicker than London Transport.

Great macro shot with these sharp details. The focus is spot on as is the exposure. "V"

Great macro and I'm impressed at your knowledge of exactly what type if slug it is.

Excellent (if a little yucky) catch. Looks pretty colourful and slimy. Great shot.
