Beautiful colors on the volcanic scoria rocks inside the Ljótipollur crater walls.
Scoria is a basaltic rock, that is light as a result of numerous macroscopic vesicles within the stone, and some types even floats in water.
The scoria vesicularity is created as magmatic volatiles exsolve prior to chilling.
