Also known as Closed Gentian. There were a few of these in the restored prairie area. We learned that it typically grows in moist prairies, but that most of Wild River State Park is on a sandbar, left over from glacial sediment. Although it's not really a moist prairie, there must be a source of moisture further down below the surface. We also learned that bees will open up the petals of these flowers and get inside.
