CGE Mount in Case

Other than the tripod, this is the mount. The foam came with the mount in the shipping box. The case is a large American Touristor fabric roller case that I got at WalMart for about $50.

The mount head is very heavy at 45 pounds. The pier/electronics is aluminum. The counter weight shaft looks to be stainless.

The pier mounts to the tripid with three bolts requiring a hex wrench. Three more attach the head to the pier. Not the best, but it works well.

You can see the two CAT cables, these connect the Dec and RA drive motors to the pier. These are the weakest link in the system. I've replaced the CAT cables with a kit made by Gary Bennett. The kit has you replace three circut boards and the male and female connectors. The connectors are the same as used on the new CGE Pro Mounts. With the new cables this mount is now much better, almost bullet proof.

All in all I like the mount and it has performed well for me.
