Jun 12: Scanning

My flatbed transparency scanner is pbu (past being useful) so I rigged up a '6x6 film scanner' in the studio. The light source is a flash head with a snoot to create an even pool of light on white background paper. The film is in the 6x6 holder from my darkroom setup, with a spring clamp to hold it together. The holder sits in my Grandad's old vice, and the 'scan head' is a DSLR with a macro lens. Works quite well, but it's a bit fiddly to set up. And of course, I'm limited to the resolution of the DSLR which makes using the 6x6 format a bit pointless... for web display, it works quite well... I need a new scanner. Again...

Maybe you should mass produce this product! You are such a tinkerer!
