Imagine my surprise as I'm traveling down the road, look over and see the white head of a Bald Eagle pop up out of a nest. Never one to pass up an opportunity I turned around and went back to get some shots of it. Interesting facts: eagles incubate their eggs for 35 days and the duties are shared by both male and female, but it is the female who spends most of her time on the nest. During incubation, one parent is always on the nest, not only to keep the eggs warm but to protect them from squirrels, ravens, and gulls which will break open and eat the eggs.
