03/11/09 - Simplicity

After trying lots of complicated setups and compositions looking for something fresh, it dawned on me that simplify, simplify, simplify.... is often the best answer. A pair of miniature daffodils against a stark black background and a few oblique leading lines to take the eye into the image. It doesn't get much simpler than this. What more do you need?
I intentionally moved away (105 prime lens where you zoom with your feet) to make the subject a very small part of the picture space. Normally I'm all over the flower with this same (macro) lens filling most of the space with yellow and it was nice to take a step back. It works for me.
