Black-capped Chickadee

FWG

A belated Happy St. David's Day (March 1) to those of you with Welsh connections. If my grandfather was still alive, he'd be hoisting a pint in his local pub in the shadow of the Black Mountains in Wales and in the Welsh language, calling for Wales to be a separate nation again!

Today was sunny but very cold (that wind!), and I didn't spend a lot of time standing in one spot. Not long after I arrived at the edge of the Old Field, this little chickadee landed on the snow next to me. Chickadees were the most noticeable birds around today, otherwise the activity was pretty quiet, at least at noon.
