The Virgin Mary wall, Fullerton & the Kennedy Expressway

This is one of those I see Jesus (Mary in this case) in the toast stories. A couple of years ago, 2007, water was leaking from a crack in the cement on this wall and some genius screamed, “I SEE THE VIRGIN MARY!”, then hundreds of people descended on this site believing this was a sign from God. This wall is under I-90/94 (Kennedy Expressway) along Fullerton Ave that passes under the expressway at this point. The Kennedy Expressway is the main expressway between O’Hare and downtown Chicago. For days the media trucks, local and national, were here with live up-dates on the sighting of the Virgin Mary. Of course having this nutty waste of time story in the news for days and days brought more and more kooks here. There were massive traffic jams because of it. A 24 hour candle light vigil went on for weeks. The city finally said ENOUGH and patched and painted over it (notice the tan paint under the picture of the Virgin Mary). It still is maintained by these “believers”.
