This is just after the pavement has ended. Now we are on Forest Service roads. For those that do not know, Forest Service roads are considered single track roads and sometimes you have to pull your mirrors in to pass another truck. This is the best the road will be for the next 20 miles. At some points we wondered if we should have taken a 4x4 instead of my 2 wheel drive truck. The military was performing exercises on top of Springer Mountain and we encountered several HumVee's and one huge 12 wheel crane truck. He had to climb the bank to let us pass.
