We were told that wild turkeys were abundant in the hills surrounding Rouge Valley, Oregon and we were determined to find some when we visited there. It took a couple of days and help from our daughter and son-in-law before we finally sighted some. They are another bird species that challenges photographers. They travel slowly as they feed and aren't too shy, but they like to stay in the shadows and it was difficult to catch them in good light. This young tom (I think) stepped into the light just long enough to let me get a shot of him and then he headed back into the shadows.
