song of bliss (woodcut) 11" x 26"

I heard of this little ditty where a young man was trying to catch an eye from a beautiful lady. She wouldn't pay him any attention. He was out in the woods with thoughts of her in his mind. A woodpecker stopped by a nearby tree and pecked a hole in one of the limbs. As the wind blew a whistling sound was heard. He had an idea. He'll carve a wistle maker out of a tree limb like the woodpecker and call it a flute. He learned how to play his flute. The music was intoxicating. He took his flute to his love. In her company he played the song of Bliss. She couldn't believe her ears and soon fell mutually in love.

I purchased this print in Hannibal MO in 2012, I believe. Very interesting to see your write up regarding the subjects. My translation of the print is very different. My song of Bliss is a translation of my life as it has transitioned, it is back to 'US and the Dog' after the youngest child has gone to college. It is framed and in our bedroom. Love it, stunning framed.
