Some things were just meant to be captured...

I was sitting down to watch the Blackhawks take on the Bruins tonight. It's the one team sport that I really enjoy above all others. Sure I enjoy the play by play duo of Hughes and Santo for the Cubs, and it's hard to beat free tickets to the Brewers game, but if I had to choose one sport, it's hockey. Which is funny, cuz, I can't skate. Ok, well... I do OWN skates, and did TRY it once, but it involved lots of downward movement. Aaaannnyways...

So Margaret needs to take care of a few things around the house, so she hands Eli off to me. He was a little fussy, but it's probably more because he was asleep in the carseat and just woken up, than really protesting being handed off to the fuzzy guy without the food supply.

And then the magic happens. He focuses right in on the game and won't take his eyes off of it. It was the funniest thing. Margaret actually noticed it before I did. I joke that here's daddy's proudest moment. Him and his two boys sitting down for the first time to watch a hockey game together. Ian is actually out of view here, but he's in the room on the loveseat watching it with us.

And in a single flawless move, Margaret spins smoothly to her left and grabs my Sony off the shelf and into the back part of the hallway. I caught her out of the corner of my eye as she reached for it, and I know what she's up to. She knows that Eli and I aren't exactly best buds yet, and knows that this is one of those moments that needs to be captured. I was actually quite impressed with her sneakiness. I turned my attention back to Eli and the game so I lost track of where she had gone with the camera. CLICK! Pop up flash gives her position away in the kitchen and she fires off this one shot...right before the battery dies.

I never turned to see what she was shooting, but I know. She calmly walks back into the room and set the camera down and says, "Could you please unload the shots on here?" She also mentions the battery acting goofy, and I just nod my head.

So here it is at the end of the second period, probably into the third by now. The Bruins were up 1-0 at the end of two. Not sure what the score is right now and really don't care.

All I know is that daddy's got the winning team tonight.

Awesome stuff. Nice capture, Margaret. You even got the male sports intensity on John and Eli's face! ;)

Super job Margaret! Plus now you know how you can hand Eli off to John whenever :-)

Good for you Margaret!! Now he knows how it feels! But how could he protest a great shot like this?! Boy Eli looks like he is into it as much as Dad! Great that you were able to capture this moment and cool comment about Daddy's winning team! All the Best!

Kudos to Margaret for capturing this moment, and yay to you John for introducing Eli to the greatest game on earth! Kinley too enjoys watching hockey, although it'll be tough for her to decide which team to cheer for, Mom's or Dad's (I'm a Calgary Flames fan and hubby is an Edmonton Oilers fan). These are the moments that'll be held onto forever!
