Cades Cove Sunset

We rode out to Cades Cove one evening for a relaxing ride that wasn't to be. Cades Cove is a one lane, 11 mile loop through former Cherokee Indian Hunting Grounds that is famous for wildlife viewing. Unfortunately, several thousand other people in cars and trucks had the same idea. We saw thousands of deer, fox, turkey, coyote, and various other animals, BUT for every animal, someone had to stop and take a picture meaning the entire line of traffic came to a halt. The 11 mile route took us 3.5 hrs. While Cades Cove is a must see, don't see it by motorcycle and don't do it on a Friday evening at the height of tourist season. This shot was taken along the side of the road where we sat for about an hour waiting for the bikes to cool down and the traffic to clear. It was time well spent as we got to watch the mountains change colors in the setting sun.
