So, I just get done writing about how I should never be without a camera, and what do I do? Go to the local park with Ian, but without a camera. Now, in all honesty, I took Ian to the park because I know he's been needing a little daddy time lately. And when I have the camera with me, it turns more into photo day than play with daddy day. So I left it home on purpose. We grabbed a couple of disc golf discs, and had a nice walk to the park.
We play the first 5 holes, chatting along the way, and then head over to the 6 new holes on the opposite side of the street. As we cross back over to the main part of the park, we walk past the pond and I spot this scene...only better and brighter. The tree looked like it was on fire it was so bright. Crap. Missed opportunity, again. It never fails...when I don't have a camera, something amazing pops up right there in front of me.
So we wrap it up and mommy picked us up on her way back home. She drops me off and they head to WalMart for some stuff. I grab the camera and tripod and race back to the park. The sun was much lower in the sky than it was earlier, but I still got a decent shot. I tried to get as slow of a shutter as possible to blur the pond, but there was too much movement in the trees with the breeze. This was a backup shot at 1/100s just in case. Glad I took it now.
So I killed two birds with one stone. I got the shot, and spent a cool afternoon with my oldest boy. I love it when a plan comes together.
