Hello. My name is Syd Perkins, RCMP and CAF retired (27 years RCMP and about 3 years CAF). I am writing my memories and currently conducting research. May eventually be a non-fiction book; but, time, preparation and research will tell. My father was Elwyn James Harold Perkins DSM (1920-1993a. He served on the Ontario sometime between 1949 and about 1953. He was in the RCN from 1936 or 37 until 1960 and worked for DND after that until 1980. His trade was electronics (radar/sonar and instructor of same). He could have been a Chief 1 or 2 and the time. I will be including a chapter about the influence of military on me and my choice of profession and would like permission to use one of these images if I should eventually publish. Also I have a question about the HMCS Ontario.I believe I was on board this specific ship for a children's Christmas Party in Esquimalt. It would have been perhaps as early as 1949 and likely no later than 1952. Would the ship have been in Esquimalt then? Long shot - also would there have been any reocrds of those Christmas parties for the kids. It might have been another ship venue for the party - but I remember the size of he ship was larger than others. Thank you for your consideration of my interest.
