Commodore's Caribe I leaving Miami on a 7-day cruise. The disproportionately small lattice-work funnel was a 1983 'innovation,' later replaced with a more traditional design.
Caribe I was built in 1953 as the Greek Liner Olympia. After twenty years of service the Greek Line failed, and she was idle from 1974-1981, when she was bought by Commodore. Following a two-year refit she re-entered cruise service in 1983. She sailed as Caribe I until 1993, when she was sold to Regal Cruises as Regal Empress. In 2004 she was transferred to Imperial Majesty, and at over 50 years old she sails on.
