Olbrich Botanical Gardens - Madison, Wisconsin
All or almost all are full square crops of either 4x3 or 6x4 format and reduced to net size. The Sigma lens on macro mode does OK.
Lets a person stand off a ways ('bout 3 feet). But as a somewhat slow lens, the DOF can get really shallow at the lowest stops, and camera shake gets to be a problem at higher Fstops without a tripod.
Many places it's impractical, or not allowed to use a tripod. This place, an indoor garden was very crowded and much darker than I thought it might be...so didn't get too many keepers.
Canon EOS 10d

Canon EOS 10D

This works well for the lens used, it IS very difficult under such circumstances. But outside with good light they do quiet well. 1:2 is more than enough for nice butterfly shots.

Too bad you didn't get that many keepers, but this is a real gem. I like the square format for this one. Good job :)
