Hi Wanda!

This nice Heron picture on yours reminded me to thank your taking the time to comment on my Heron & gopher picture awhile back http://www.pbase.com/rbfresno/hunting_heron). (I usually have better manners and respond right away!).
Most of the GB Herons I come across here in California seem pretty "flighty" and hard to approach without scaring them off. Congrats on getting close.

Keep up the good work!!

Best Regards,

RB

John,

If you mean the 300 wizbang whatever it was that I got him for his birthday then the answer is "yes"! He tried to get Me to use it last night when he shot the cute picture of the baby killdeer but I refused. I didn't want to mess up the shot and lose the opportunity to capture an image of those cute little critters! The huge lens intimidates Me. Besides, If I dropped it or damaged it in any way, there would be hell to pay! (grin)

Wanda I am impressed w/o your willingness to be honest with yourself and do the self-critique. That will help you become a really outstanding photographer.

On this one I would have also like it if you had knocked the background more out of focus.

Wes,

I seriously doubt My picture turned out better than yours did. I really blew it on this one. I can easily see that his face isn't as sharp as it should be and his body is more in focus. That's because I didn't have the camera set correctly. I used the center focus on his eye, then recomposed but I didn't have the camera in the right mode to do that. It's a good thing you guys were there to help Me or all My pictures would have been messed up!
