Shengyang-the capital city of Liaoning Province, located in the south part of northeast region of China, backing Changbai Mountain, facing Bohai Bay. Shengyang is the hinterland of Liaodong Peninsula as well as the economic, cultural, transportaion, financial and commercial center in northeast region of China. Originally called Shen, the city was a prosperous Mongol trading center from the 10th to the 12th century AD, and it was an early capital (1625-1644) of the Qing (Manchu) dynasty (1644-1911) before its conquest of Beijing.
