Golden Plover

(pluvialis apricaria)
A migrating flock of about 100 Golden Plover were present on Fair Isle near the school during our stay but they would likely soon be moving on. On the Shetland mainland there was a much larger flock of about 800 birds at Fleck close to our Sumburgh Hotel base. This flock was also holding one American Golden Plover, unfortunately too far away for any photograph.
