The Barred Warbler is a scarce but regular autumn migrant in Scotland. The bird in these photos was the second Barred Warbler which we found on Fair Isle. The first met an unfortunate end - we had tracked it down to a clump of bushes in the corner of a garden but so had the resident cat which emerged from the bushes with the Barred Warbler in its mouth ! Surprisingly, we did not find any of these on the Shetland mainland.
