The Common Brown Lemur is a medium sized lemur with uniform brown or grey-brown upperparts and a black or dark grey face, head and muzzle. It is found in a variety of habitats including lowland and montane rain-forest and dry deciduous forest. Despite its name it is not that common and there are a number of disjoint populations mainly in the east and north west of the island. We encountered these animals several times in the Andasibe NP area where they are common and confiding and can be found right by the park office. All these photographs were taken from the main road through the park.
