The road between Thimpu and Punakha crosses the Dochu la pass at 3150 metres. Unfortunately we arrived at the pass in a snowstorm which lasted for a couple of hours and curtailed the birding a bit ! Happily we found a small restaurant with a blazing wood stove fire which kept us warm and dry until the storm abated. We then had some excellent birding down the road with many stops at different altitudes.
