The Barrow's Goldeneye breeds in tundra areas of Iceland, Greenland and North America. It is a rare visitor to the UK. The bird photographed here was found near Callander in Stirlingshire in November 2006. As with all rare wildfowl, the origin of such birds is difficult to assess but the location and time of arrival & departure of this bird should lead to its acceptance as a wild bird. There are several sets of images taken on different days with varying light conditions and distance.
