Hello Sandi... sorry I only saw your question about the Infra red after I answered your pm.

Yes, the final image is a combination of the full colour with the IR image ( which is desaturated first ) and various hand colouring techniques. All the different elements are stored on layers with accomanying layer masks to hide or reveal the required parts.

But to be honest it is pretty easy to just do straight forward b/w conversions of the IR image and then use various adjustments in photoshop to improve contrast etc.
