32 Hopeman Beach

Hopeman, Moray, Scotland.

I love colour so you can imagine my delight at finding this wonderful beach hut among a row of other equally jolly painted examples. I wanted it to look as incongruous and childlike as possible so I photographed it two dimensionally, head on, just like you would find in a nursery book or a childs drawing of a house and then made sure the backdrop was as unspectacular and bland as possible. Any shadows would have complicated the picture adding unwanted 3 dimensionality so I waited for the sun to go in and the shadows to soften. The hut is deliberately placed as symmetrically in the frame as possible to further enhance the childlike appearance.
