Skeleton Trees

Loch Ness, Fort Augustus, Scotland.

To be honest, despite it's mythical associations with "The Monster", Loch Ness is not the prettiest of lochs nor the most atmospheric. True it has a castle perched on one side, but that is so covered in, "Do Not" and "Danger" signs that a lot of the romanticism dies along with the tourist coaches that disgorge upon it. Fort Augustus is not immune from tourism either but some how in the failing light of a winters day Scotland's essential essence and drama is conveyed in a skeletal row of naked beech trees at the extreme west end of the loch.

Very beautiful shot again, it reminds me about my visit to Scotland in 2000.

Wonderfully composed; love the streak of trees across the middle of the frame, and of course the bold elemental colors. v. Lee
