On the outskirts of the town of Sisteron is a small road that meanders its way into farmland and thence onto the mountains. This I was reliably informed where I would find some local lavender fields. I saw a few but most were quite scrubby and sparse but then this beauty with a clear blue sky and a mountain back drop talk about the jewel in a crown. It was one of the most immaculate I was to see.
