It really wasn't the most promising day when I visited Loch Garten and I confess I wasn't feeling particularly well so big scenic shots were largely off the menu. Loch Garten is very peaty and the water appears almost chocolate coloured in places though it is never-the-less very clear. Exploring the shoreline with somewhat less enthusiasm than usual I came across a little beach with green moss covered rocks in them. I could see that the sandy beach was acting as a pale backdrop and turned the water a deep blood red colour, the mossy stones complemented it wonderfully and a polariser cut through the surface glare to reveal the colours in spectacular clarity.
