A beautiful sweep of intense pre-dawn colour greeted us when we arrived at Mellon Udrigle one of my favourite mainland Scottish beaches. the mountains of Coigach and Inverpolly were outlined in blue whilst a spur of sand subjected to the sweep of tidal action created a seamless partnership of reflected colour and light with the sea beneath a striated crimson sky.
