Mellon Udrigle is just about my favourite beach in main land Scotland. For some reason I almost always come away with something I regard as a little bit special from here and this very fine morning was no exception. It was quite a high tide which I usually regard as not being particularly ideal but the weather looked promising and as it turned out we had one of the best sunrises I can remember. I watched this little spur of sandy beach get smaller and smaller as the sky turned from pink to red to orange and a blood red sunrise matured over the Coigach mountains of Inverpolly in subdued blue tones. Drop dead gorgeous.
