Gneiss is one of my very favourite rocks and this contoured and banded grey stone is particularly lovely half submerged in soft white grainy sand. I always try to photograph these on the dullest day possible preferably with a white sky above to maximise colour and detail but what I find particularly lovely and clean is the total lack of shadows.
