It had been raining hard for a few days and I have to admit my enthusiasm was beginning to wane with the constant battle to keep the camera lens dry and clear of water droplets. Eventually it eased to a light drizzle and I found myself in a flooded section of the loch where the birch trees did a fair impression of a mangrove swamp. The soft light and subtle autumn colours of drizzled gold birch was mesmerising, especially in the still reflective waters now sprinkled with gold confetti.
