Frozen Tide Fredvang

Vollen, Lofoten, Norway.

This area of drainage ditches and meandering channels cuts through dune grass and sand on its way to the beach at Fredvang. After winter snows have melted the carpet of crushed grasses has the texture of matted fur. On a particularly fine and frosty morning just shy of high tide I arrived to find the fur lined with fractured ice which turned to shards of gold when the sun burst through coloured clouds.
