White Tree

Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Scotland

I have taken the opportunity to make this image a little larger than normal simply because when displayed as a panoramic it feels insubstantial.

It was an amazingly clear winter morning at Loch N' Achlaise high on Rannoch moor where I set up opposite the now deceased island tree along with at least 15 other photographers. I have always been enchanted with high key images and Rannoch moor was proving to be as white as I had ever seen it. I carefully metered the brightest exposure value and placed it just below the optical threshold of burnt out white allowing all other exposure values to take care of themselves.

NEW!! Photographic workshops and masterclasses and fine art cards are now available at TRANSIENT LIGHT
