Rannoch moor a vast expanse of waterlogged moorland backed by mountains has the capacity to produce some of the most astonishing pictures in amazingly variable conditions but my favourite seasons by far are the Autumn and winter months with the transition period excelling most. Heavy cloud hung over the moor most of the afternoon and I waited somewhat unexpectantly for something dramatic to materialise and on this occasion some stunning golden light punched holes in the cloudbase for a few seconds and I got the single shot that made the whole day worthwhile.
