There are two peat streams that cut a new track through the red sands of Mellon Udrigle. This one usually is the most interesting but is often cluttered with rather foul smelling black seaweed. On this occasion it was only the lowest areas of the tide that suffered the black weed and the colours of the red peppered sand and turquoise sea in pre-dawn light really showed up very well. As you have probably gathered this is one of my favorite beaches in Scotland and the soft light really enhances its colours.
