Venetian Rock

St Marks Square, Venice, Italy

On a misty October dawn I hauled myself out of bed and made my way to St Marks Square where several gondolas were moored, tied up to posts and nodding in the morning breeze. I knew the posts would stay completely still and therefore sharply defined but the boats would blur with the rocking motion if I chose an appropriate exposure the fact that visibility was poor actually helped as the backdrop is uniform and doesn't distract from those wonderful blue boats.

NEW!! Photographic workshops and masterclasses and fine art cards are now available at TRANSIENT LIGHT

Wonderful Ian ... perfectly executed ... I visited Venice last year and tried a similar shot that was inspired by the shot in your book ... didn't come out this good! :)
