Occasionally it pays to sit back and let the feeling and mood of your location wash over and through you. I find it a great way to capture the essence of a place and this one goes a long way to doing just that. There was barely a breath of wind and the trees were hanging under the weight of a moisture laden early spring morning. Near to the edge of the loch lined with a mix of birch and spruce I spied a fallen tree with its veil of maroon twiggery appearing to caress a triangle of lichen rocks and an old log. Despite its apparent simplicity it took me the best part of half an hour to optimise focal length, position and tripod height until I was convinced the mood I sought would be conveyed to good effect. Suffice it to say I am enormously pleased with the results.
