Snow Pillows

Ruthven Barracks, Cairngorm, Scotland

It's snowing outside and like a school boy sitting at his desk supposedly mulling over a row of maths questions I am wistfully looking out of the window waiting for the bell to go...

Great soft fluffy white pillows of powder fine snow mould themselves over grass tussocks, twigs and branches softly filling in the hollows and clefts to produce a pristine unblemished world save for the odd snow hare camouflaged against pure white snow. For a photographer this is the stuff of dreams and we had nearly a week of it with temperatures rarely exceeding minus ten.

The side lighting and crispness of this shot give a great sense of 3D.
Also the single track works well

Beautiful with the light catching the frozen trees and the limited colour pallette. Well done.
