Malaya 1946

With the liberation May 5 1945 the WW2 took its end in Denmark, but was still going on in Asia and the Pacific.
Upon request from the new Danish Foreign Minister Christmas Møller my father Knud Henriksen (then 26) and other young men volunteered for the English army.
He joined the 1. Btn Royal Lincolnshire regiment for his recruit time before he was drafted from Liverpool September 21 1946
heading Singapore [Malaysia] via Suez.
More than 100 old pictures were handed over to me in a shoebox, most of them in poor condition.
This gallery is more a documentation of a period in his life and respect for the people of Malaya, than an example of perfect restoration.

Fascinating gallery - really enjoyed looking at these old photos. My father was in India at the same time, and when he died recently I also got a shoe box full of similar shots. It's a small world!!
