Buena Vista butte at 4100' is over a mile below the 9700' Steen's Mt in the backdrop. The incline is decieving at you approach from the West. On the Eastside, the drop is a mile straight down to the Alvord desert. The contrasts are remarkable, the vistas... unrecordable.
