St Mary's church was re-built in 1850. Stones from the old church helped to construct the new and stonework remnants are preserved in the churchyard in the form of a grotto built in memory of the Reverend Ferdinand Faithful the rector at the time of the rebuilding. Inside this Grotto is the churches original Font. Located in the church grounds, and no longer in use it is left for people to view and admire.
