Croome Court | The Church of St Mary Magdalene | The Pleasure Grounds

The Pleasure Grounds

From the National Trust guidebook:
Brown's landscape was designed to look natural, but it depended as much on engineering as on art or nature.
To drain the "morass", miles of culverts had to be dug, and a new river and lake created. And to beautify
the newly fertile landscape, Brown depended not just on native trees and shrubs, but on hundreds
of exotic species recently introduced to Britain by plant-hunters from across the world.
