Visited Tohoku area of Japan in Oct 2002. Japan is my favourite country for vacation, and Tohoku area is a must-go during the Autumn.

We just went here last week on a 'mystery bus' tour out of Sendai with my father-in-law and wife. Didn't know of this place and had no idea we'd visit such a lovely area. Was raining harder and harder as we walked to the waterfall, but well worth it. Gorgeous scenery, for sure!

It was some 5 years ago since I went to Tohoku. I can hardly recall my route. I travel using JR trains and buses, asking my way as I move around. I book accommodation in advance from searching the internet. I particularly remember that Oct was a peak seminar season in that area, and hotel in cities could be fully booked. I met a few girls who have to change plans to travel by night train because they were unable to find accommodation. Happy journey.

I'm fasinated by your photos. I'm planning to go to Tohoku in this early Nov but i'm a lost in the travel plan, appreciate if you can give some guidance on accommodation and did you rent a car when you were in Oirase/ Lake Towada. If you have a travel schedule is it possible to share them with me.
