The gardens in this photo shoot are currently being threatened to be destroyed by several NYU skyscraper building projects called the NYC/NYU 2031 Plan.

On July 25, 2012 the New York City Council voted to support the NYU2031 expansion plan that will destroy these gardens, the community's children's playgrounds, public park strips, and a dog run to build a number of skyscrapers here in the heart of historic Greenwich Village. When the local NYC Community Board voted against the plan in support of strong community opposition, Mayor Bloomberg came out with strong support for the NYU 2031 President Sexton Plan several months before the NYC Governmental approval process was complete. Then the critical NYC agency votes were given in support of the NYC/NYU 2031 Plan despite strong community opposition. Legal options are pending to restrain the NYC Government and NYU from proceeding with their plan primarily based on public domain grounds.
