On July 25, 2012 the New York City Council voted to support the NYU2031 expansion plan that will forever destroy this community's children's playgrounds, park strips, dog run and gardens to build a number of skyscrapers in the heart of historic Greenwich Village - if pending legal options cannot restrain the present NYC Government and NYU administration from proceeding with this ill conceived plan. It should be noted that Mayor Bloomberg publicly approved this plan before it was vetted by public approval and a unbiased city planning process. These photos were submitted to the City Council to consider before they voted 41-1 for the plan to destroy these precious city assets.

The NYC government from the Mayor, Manhattan Borough President, the City Planning Commission, Land Use Committee and City Council has called the NYU2031 Plan "balanced" in approving the destruction of children's playgrounds, public park strips, a dog run, the treasured LaGuardia Corner Gardens and Washington Square Village Sasaki Garden and hundreds of trees, bushes and plants for a series of skyscrapers in the heart of historic Greenwich Village - while turning the area into a major construction zone for at least the next 20 years. Virtually all of these trees and gardens will be destroyed in the near future, if NYU is allowed to build a number of skyscrapers on the two blocks where they are located.
